The New FACTNet Mission: Public Education for Climate Reality and Truth, Clear Thinking, Local Resilience, and Humanity’s Great Rebirth
FACTNet is a U.S. IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1993. For more than three decades, we have provided public education on climate change, social responsibility, and the protection of individuals and communities from harmful social and other systems.
We believe current science indicates that humanity is entering a period we call the Great Reckoning. This is a period of a dangerous, transitional unraveling of many of humanity's critical global support and stability. Climate disruption, ecological overshoot, political instability, resource limits, economic fragility, authoritarianism, technological disruption, and numerous other well-defined, serious global crises are converging into what many researchers call the global polycrisis.
Most people can feel that something is wrong. Fewer have a clear map of what is happening, how to think wisely about it, how to prepare themselves, their loved ones, or their business for it. Few know how to preserve a disciplined hope without falling into denial or into an ungrounded optimism that someone or something will, at the last minute, save humanity from its own prior bad decisions, actions, and consequences.
FACTNet’s new mission is to respond to the many challenges of the 15 global crises of the polycrisis and help ordinary citizens, families, communities, educators, and leaders move through this difficult transitional unraveling and reckoning period (the many serious accumulating consequences we can no longer avoid) with better information, better thinking, practical preparation, ethical action, and deeper personal resilience.
Our goal is not merely to survive the global polycrisis. Our larger goal is to help preserve the best of humanity and seed the possibility of a more just, sustainable, and life-affirming future. We call that future possibility and vision the Great Rebirth.
The FACTNet Four-Website Education Pathway
FACTNet operates and is upgrading four interconnected educational websites. Each website has a distinct role, with its own step-by-step ladder of materials, courses, or training that prepares you for the next easiest step on the ladder and/or the next website. Together, they form a self-chosen, graduated, achievable, and practical learning pathway to:
Face reality → think better → prepare locally → act ethically → build the Great Rebirth → and deepen personal meaning while doing so.
This educational ladder and pathway is not a belief system. It is not a political party, a religion, a cult, or a personality-centered movement. It is a voluntary educational and service pathway for people who want to face reality, reduce suffering, prepare wisely, and help build a better future.
1. Job One For Humanity
Climate Reality, Emergency Preparation, Adaptation, and Resilience
Job One For Humanity provides uncensored climate change analysis, practical emergency preparation, adaptation strategies, resilience-building guidance, and migration planning when needed.
Job One’s central message is simple:
Humanity must still do everything possible to reduce global fossil fuel use as fast as possible. At the same time, because of decades of delay, we must also prepare for serious climate consequences that can no longer be avoided.
Job One helps individuals and communities:

- understand the climate emergency,
- prepare for worsening climate consequences and related polycrisis consequences,
- build local resilience,
- reduce preventable suffering,
- make wiser personal and community decisions, and
- preserve practical hope through action.
Current status: Job One is the most complete of the four websites. Its climate information is substantially developed, but many pages still need to be simplified, reorganized, and updated to align with FACTNet’s new four-website mission.
2. Universe Institute
Polycrisis Education, Rational Thinking, DMAP, and Advanced Problem-Solving
Universe Institute is FACTNet’s research and education center for the global polycrisis, rational thinking, systems thinking, and advanced decision-making.
Its work focuses on helping people understand complex global risks and develop the thinking skills needed to respond wisely.
Universe Institute is developing educational materials in:

- global polycrisis analysis and solutions,
- basic, intermediate, and advanced rational thinking, which includes systems thinking and Dialectical Metasystemic Analysis and Problem-solving, also called DMAP,
- AI safety and human-friendly AI training, and
- long-term research into why civilizations repeatedly fail to solve major recurring problems.
DMAP is one of the core methods being developed and taught by Universe Institute. It is designed to help individuals and groups analyze civilization-level complex problems from many perspectives, avoid simplistic thinking, and produce wiser solutions.
Current status: Universe Institute has completed significant foundational work, especially in polycrisis analysis and DMAP. Its rational thinking guides, major research papers, and several public education tools still need to be completed.
3. The Way of the Universe
A Practical Philosophy for Right Action in Humanity’s Hardest Century
The Way of the Universe is being developed as a practical, science-grounded new philosophy for ethical action, cooperation, responsibility, ecological balance, and long-term human renewal.
Its purpose is to help people answer a practical question:
How should we live and act during a time of escalating global disruption?
The Way of the Universe is not a religion or spiritual system. It is a secular philosophy grounded in reality, evolutionary principles, ecological limits, cooperation, responsibility, and the long-term common good.
It will help people practice:

- right action,
- right attitude,
- courage,
- cooperation,
- ecological responsibility,
- service,
- protection of future generations, and,
- behavior that supports the Great Rebirth rather than repeating the failures that created the polycrisis.
Current status: The Way of the Universe is the least developed of the four websites. Its foundation has been started, but it depends on additional research, editing, and curriculum development before it can become a complete public education resource.
4. Universe Spirit
Safe, Non-Coercive Exploration of Meaning, Consciousness, and Inner Resilience
Universe Spirit provides a safe, non-coercive, non-authoritarian space for exploring life’s deepest existential and spiritual questions.
Its purpose is to help individuals deepen personal meaning, inner resilience, ethical maturity, and connection during a time of great uncertainty.
Universe Spirit does not demand belief. It does not require loyalty to any teacher, doctrine, organization, or spiritual claim. It supports self-directed exploration, direct experience, humility, healthy boundaries, and ethical transformation.
It invites people to explore questions such as:

- What still gives life meaning during a time of natural reckoning, unraveling, loss, and disruption?
- How can people remain grounded, compassionate, and courageous?
- What is consciousness?
- What is the origin or ground of the universe?
- Could the origin, energy, or consciousness of the universe also be present within us in some profound way?
These questions are explored carefully, without coercion, manipulation, or dogma.
Current status: Universe Spirit is undergoing a major transition. Its older website contains a large body of material, but the new site is still being rebuilt, refocused, and separated from the secular philosophy work, which is now moving to The Way of the Universe.
What Is Already Complete and What Still Needs Funding
FACTNet’s new four-website vision is clear. Much of the core content has already been created. The climate education work is especially advanced. The polycrisis and DMAP foundations are also well underway.
But the full public education pathway is not yet complete.
We now need funding and staff to finish the next stage of work.
What funding will help complete
Initial funding will help FACTNet:
- simplify or reorganize existing climate and polycrisis materials into step-by-step courses and training, where applicable,
- complete the intermediate and advanced rational thinking guides, which will finish the DMAP public education pathway,
- develop the Way of the Universe philosophy pages and practices,
- rebuild and refocus Universe Spirit,
- improve navigation and transitions across and between all four websites,
- create a clear public learning ladder and pathway,
- create courses, guides, and volunteer training materials,
- improve accessibility and readability,
- support outreach, marketing, and public education, and
- recruit the staff needed to complete and launch the upgraded mission.
Initial funding target
To launch the next stage of this mission, FACTNet is seeking an initial funding range of:
$250,000 to $400,000
This would allow us to hire or contract the essential staff needed for editing, web development, administration, fundraising, outreach, curriculum development, research support, and project coordination.
At a minimum, this work requires 2 to 3 paid staff members or equivalent contractors, supported by volunteers and advisors.
Why This Work Matters Now
The global polycrisis is not a distant abstraction. Climate disruption, economic instability, political fragmentation, ecological decline, misinformation, technological risk, and weakening institutions are already affecting people’s lives and are worsening.
The people most exposed to these risks are ordinary citizens, families, local communities, and future generations.
Many wealthy individuals, corporations, political insiders, and government systems are already preparing for instability. Ordinary citizens need access to practical, honest, and well-organized education too.
FACTNet’s four-website pathway is designed to give people what they urgently need:
- clear climate and polycrisis information,
- better tools for rational thinking,
- practical preparation and resilience strategies,
- ethical guidance for difficult decisions,
- a larger vision of renewal,
- and safe ways to deepen meaning and inner strength.
This is education for a hard century.
It is also preparation for the possibility of a wiser one.

We are a culture of truth-seeking, not denial.
We are a culture of science, not well-intentioned beliefs or opinions.

We are a culture of right action, not passive concern.
We are a culture of responsibility, not superiority.
We are a culture of healthy boundaries, not dependency.
No person, teacher, founder, website, organization, ideology, or spiritual claim owns anyone’s conscience. Participation is voluntary. Questions are welcome. Leaving is allowed. Disagreement is not betrayal.
We honor those who tell the truth, reduce suffering, improve their thinking, prepare wisely, serve life, protect the vulnerable, build trust, repair harm, and help others become stronger, freer, wiser, and more capable.
